Onward
There are young adults in our community who don’t have a safe place to sleep at night. They are couch-surfing, living in cars and staying in unsafe places. They are trying to hide their homelessness. But Onward sees them. And Onward is responding by creating safe, affordable, transitional, supportive housing in the southwest suburbs. No one else is doing this for this segment of the market — single adults age18 - 24 who do not have children.Onward House is located in a comfortable Eden Prairie neighborhood near shopping and mass transportation. It has a relaxing common space with a living room, dining room, kitchen, deck, yard, and four private bedrooms for residents.
It falls into the category of transitional housing, as opposed to permanent housing. Residents stay in the home for an average of 10 - 24 months and serve up to four residents at a time.
Onward currently serve female-identifying and non-binary young adults between the ages of 18 and 24.

Support Services
Paying the rent. Setting a budget. Buying groceries and cooking. Living in community. Respecting boundaries. Working. Going to school. Being responsible for your health and wellbeing.
These are all rites of passage for young adults.
It helps to have someone you can rely on to answer your questions, help you adjust and connect you to the resources you need to conduct your life.
Onward works with an independent contractor who provides these services.
Rotary
Our Rotary Club has provided funds, assisted with yard maintenance and house maintenance, and even helped move several residents/graduates out of the Onward House and into their own apartment!
When service meets heart, lives are transformed
We’re honored to receive this letter of appreciation from Onward House in August 2025, recognizing our Rotary crew’s support in helping a graduate settle into their new apartment. It’s moments like these that remind us why we serve—and how collective kindness builds stronger communities.
“Dear Eden Prairie Noon Rotary,
On behalf of Onward, myself, and one very grateful Onward House graduate, THANK YOU!!! On Saturday, August 2nd, a phenomenal group of your members volunteered to support one of our graduates with their move. It was a hot and humid day; there were (what seemed to be) endless boxes, and a decent amount of furniture. The crew loaded and unloaded the truck, went up and down the elevators too many times to count, and constructed furniture and aided in setting things up. They took such care with her things and gave of their time freely. Martin and John built an insanely over-complicated bed frame and headboard. Paul and Sreeni constructed a coffee table that would have proven challenging to a Lego Master builder! And Nick assumed responsibility for building a lounge chair.
Please know that what you did that day wasn’t simply moving a young person to their new apartment. You helped to fill a void. A void where family and friends are, for those blessed enough to have that in their lives. Too often, the residents of Onward House don’t have those people in their lives. They don’t have people to help them out or provide them with a safety net. This is why their experiences at Onward House are so valuable and provide a long-term impact. They create FAMILY at Onward…a family of peers, staff, board members, and community/civic groups and volunteers like you!!! The impact you make is so much more than you’ll ever know.
When the move was completed the first thing the newly housed resident said was, ‘I hope they could tell how much I appreciated that. I don’t know what I would’ve done if they didn’t help me like they did.’ So be assured that you made quite an impression, one that was meaningful and will not be forgotten any time soon.
Thank you all for the ongoing support that you show to Onward and its residents. We are humbled by your service.
